Today I Worked In My Jamiez

Momprenuer Balancing Act, Things I wish I'd known - Jenna - December 14, 2010

Ok, so scratch the visions of a self made millionaire with money to burn who makes money in her sleep, lounging in her designers PJ set while the pool boys skims the pool. NO!

My jammie work day is more of a rare occasion that is birthed from an over tired over worked mom who has way to much on her plate to get dressed even! Yeah not so romantic. In fact I try not to let it happen but sometimes I just have to cut myself some slack. Today for instance I had a daycare child I had taken on when work was slow and am now keeping until her mom has a baby even though my work has picked up and I am busier than ever! She arrived at 7am and I was going on 5 hours sleep at that point, so I decided that a brush of the teeth, clipa in the hair and a quick face wash would be put together enough for my favorite AE hoodie & sweats that I had slept in the night before. “Just to answer the door” I thought to myself! So at 8:15v when I was rushing to get my oldest out the door and everyone fed I decided that I would just change my under garments and slip back into my comfies to finish out the morning routine!

Well here I sit…. two batches of fudge, one batch of cookies, 43 e-mails, three articles, two blog posts, 53 Christmas cards , lunch, coloring, a cardboard house, snack, nap time, back yard time, school time, and three Clients calls later…..In my Jamiez!

Yes, today kind of got away from me and I am still only half way but just don’t think that the rest of the days events are worth dirtying a clean pair of jeans. Today I will finish my day in the exact same outfit as I went to sleep in. I wish I had a more glamours tale of my work day in my Jamiez for you but this is all I got. Just a busy mom, trying to work, take care of her family, and get all the year end done before the actual end of the year. All I have to say is thank God I crunch numbers and am not in fashion:)

No this doesn’t happen very often, but I am not going to beat myself up today about it. I swear I just saw Miley Cirus in jamies on a magazine cover some where, so it must me ok…right?

The busy working pregnant mom

Kids & Family, Momprenuer Balancing Act - Jenna - October 28, 2010

When you are a busy mom with a thousand things on her plate you need to be firing on all cylinders all the time. Get one cold on the day your little one has snack at preschool, and you have a huge deadline and you know what I mean. We juggling mamas don’t often get to do lie down while the cold passes and some one brings us soup! Oh no we have to get the job done regardless of the sniffles or walking pneumonia as it may be.

So what happens when you are expected to preform all your regular duties and you are expecting? You feel like barfing every three seconds and can’t remember what day it is, but don’t forget that spreadsheet, and jimmy has football after school! Blame it on the hormones, lack of sleep, or just plain craziness that comes with growing a baby, and not even getting to take a nap it is not fun.

I remember my first baby when things were calm and by today’s standards even boring. Pregnancy was wonderful. I ate all the time when and what I wanted, I napped, my husband looked after me awww. Fast forward two kids, a career, house, and a gold fish or three and things are very different.

I find myself telling moms pregnant with their first baby “enjoy every second because this is the last time your life will be anything remotely close to your own EVER again”  I try to back off when the tears well up in her eyes, but for the love of God someone needs to tell this poor woman that in her subsequent pregnancies no one will care that the belly that is making it harder to climb her lap is also making her very tired. They just want their sandwich how they like it and now!  And this is just the begining.

Oh yes things will be very different by baby three. No amount of maternity leave will save your sanity either and in this market you better plan on trying to work from home while you nurse an infant and care for a toddler.  Bet ya didn’t see that one comin’?

So her I sit with an infant and a toddler trying to make it all work while I balance a spreadsheet and attempt to make all the ends meet. Some one has taken over my brain, body, and moods and I can’t even recall the last time I went out. I am just trying to make it through the day and make the best llife I can for my kids and coming baby. I wish someome would have told me! On second thought no I don’t we both know I wouldn’t have listened any way, what fun would that be?

Networking at the sandbox

Momprenuer Balancing Act - Jenna - August 30, 2010

I often find myself at a park with other moms discussing life, love, business, money, and goldfish crackers!  I have made some great friends at sandbox’s and had some great conversations, but I always feel awkward about promoting my business at the park. That was until I talked to my girlfriend over coffee the other day, who let me in on how valuable, and powerful the sandbox network can be.

The other day she was at a local park with her son, when they came across a a boy with his father in the sandbox. After the kids introduced themselves and went to digging. Mom & Dad’s were left to chat. After the pleasantries of how old is yours were exchanged it came out in conversation that he was a buyer for a major children’s retailer. She just so happens to have her on business making baby slings! The man ordered 100 for his local retail store and she is on her way to baby merch stardom!

So don’t forget your business cards when you pack the juice box’s you just never know who you will run into.
